Voeller contemplates future
Rudi Voeller has hinted he is still considering his options despite guiding Germany to the 2002 World Cup finals.
Voeller`s team booked their trip to Korea and Japan with a 4-1 play-off second leg victory over Ukraine, winning 5-2 on aggregate.
It means Germany maintain their 100% qualification record, reaching 15 World Cup tournaments in 15 attempts.
Voeller admitted afterwards: "I`m very relieved.
But he added: "I will announce a decision how I will go forward before Christmas."
Voeller has been the subject of much criticism in Germany since the 5-1 home defeat by England in September.
The former international striker had promised to resign if Germany failed to reach next year`s finals.
He said: "I`ve had to bear a lot over the last eight weeks, but the criticism was good for me."
Vocal critic
Voeller added: "The fans were sensational - they saw that we went out at full pelt from the first minute."
German football legend Franz Beckenbauer, a vocal critic of the national side since the loss to England, was another relieved man.
"I just refuse to imagine what would have happened if we had not qualified but, thank God, all those worries are behind us now."
The result was never in doubt after Germany scored three times in the first 15 minutes against the Ukraine.
"It was a great team effort," said Beckenbauer, who lifted the World Cup as captain in 1974 and coach in 1990.
"We played extremely well, especially in the first quarter-hour."
Ukraine`s assistant coach Leonid Buryak said: "We knew that the decision would fall here whatever happened in Kiev.
"It was a totally different German side today.
"Their will and determination were simply unbelievable - after 30 minutes the game was over."
