Caiman push Tonnerre to bottom position
Martin Etonge
The big day 11 game between relegation threaten sides Tonnerre Yaounde and Caiman Douala ended 3-1 in favour of the visitors Caiman.
Both teams have been running through management crisis and Caiman seem to have finished theirs with the return of Charles Mboule. Tonnerre were shapeless with Caiman`s Bekombo emerging man of the day thanks to a double in the first half.
Before Akono made it three for Caiman, Augustin Binya pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 30th minute.
The win put Caiman just above the relegation line, while Tonnerre become first from bottom. Sable forced Racing to a one all draw in Bafoussam to equal Tonnerre on 8 points a piece, but keep the goal advantage.
PWD Bamenda held tight on top of the table though Cintra imposed a virgin tie on them at home. Division one returnees, PWD have been leaders since day one and now count 23 points.
However, they are just two above Bamboutos who became runners up thanks to a 2-0 home win over Renaissance. Hitherto Coton Sport Garoua drop to third position with 20 points following their one all tie to the champions of draw games, Unisport Bafang.
In spite of the little money in their purse, Cintra are making big gains on the field. Their virgin tie against leaders PWD leave them on fourth position with 19, one above giant city neighbours Canon Yaounde.
Thursday was certainly a great day for fans of Mount Cameroon Buea as the side ended their poor run. They edged Union Douala 1-0, making the first win in the last seven games. The win did not offer them any positive movement on the table, but at least it was enough psychological boaster for them a week to their first official international match in the Caf Cup Winners Cup against Akonangui of Equatorial Guinea.
It was also a good day for the other South West club, Victoria United. They managed to stay away from the relegation zone with a narrow 2-1 win over Fovu in Limbe. They are 12th with 12 points.
