Mount Cameroon wins by forfeiture
Mount Cameroon football club of Buea has grabbed the remaining semi-final ticket of the cup of Cameroon following the failure of Union of Douala to turn-up for the replay encounter.
After poor illumination forced centre referee to halt the encounter during the second session of penalty kicks last Sunday, the encounter was reprogrammed for Wednesday, October 4, still at the Buea Municipal Stadium, but the Douala team that had earlier sent an ultimatum to the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), refused to show-up.
According to Union of Douala officials, FECAFOOT, did not inform them 72 hours before the encounter as the text stipulates. They just like any other person got the information on radio 26 hours to the encounter.
Hence, the Union officials claim that FECAFOOT, is not just by failing to examine the protest they filed at the end of the halted encounter against a Mount Cameroon player, Ndongo Mpesa, said to have changed his name to Edson Mpesa. It is this same complain the Union administrators went on that led to the FA disciplinary committee sanctioning Mount Cameroon by subtracting three points in favour of current league leader Cotonsport of Garoua.
In addition to all this, the “Nasaras” officials who are still struggling to get the team out of the relegation zone are wondering how FECAFOOT would examine a recent protest filed against Mount Cameroon by Cotonsport without examining an earlier league match protest ( counting for the 23rd day of play) pitting them (Union) to brother team Dynamo of Douala.
