Mboma might move to Blackburn Rovers
African player of the year, Patrick Mboma of Cameroon, has been authorised by his club Parma to hold talks with Blackburn Rovers officials over his transfer.
The spokesman of the Italian Serie A side reported that though the talks are still at a very early stage, the club have accepted the British club mediators to hold talks with their player whose position on any potential move is still unknown.
"We do not know yet what the position of the player is - if he agrees to a move then Blackburn and Parma will open full discussions," the spokesman added.
But the Olympic gold medallist and African Player of the Year, who is a key member of reigning African Champion`s Cameroon, has been unable to establish himself since this season started due to back injury sustained at the start of the season.
The powerful 31-year-old Cameroonian goal getter before arriving Cagliari (Italy) where he spent two years, has played for Gomba Osaka (Japan), Paris St. Germain, and Metz in France. He was very instrumental in his country’s qualification for the 2002 World football Cup competition in Japan and South Korea.
