Cameroon get government backing(BBC)
The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have received a morale boost from the government ahead of Tuesday`s crucial match against Germany.
Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) chief Mohamed Iya said that the government of president Paul Biya has sent a congratulatory message to the delegation in Fujiyoshida.
This comes after fans back home were left disappointed after the two performances of the Lions against Ireland and Saudi Arabia.
Cameroon struggled to beat the Saudis 1-0 in Saitama after managing to hold Ireland to a 1-1 draw.
"We have been given some encouraging from a message sent to us by the government of Cameroon," the Fecafoot boss said.
"This is the real point and not criticising when we are not yet out of the competition.
Backing
"In the message we were congratulated for the win over Saudi Arabia and best of luck to the players for the Germany game."
Striker Samuel Eto`o also called for increased backing from the fans back home.
"We are ready to die for the Cameroonian people but it is important that they don`t look at one aspect of the game," said Eto`o.
"We are training very hard and we take every match seriously.
"It is important that the journalists educate the fans about other teams so they have the true picture of every game."Hits: 1 | Source:BBC
