Mt Cameroon, Cintra, Fovu and Dynamo closer to semi-finals
Away leg quarter finals matches of the cup of Cameroon were played on Sunday, September 16, with four teams, Mount Cameroon, Cintra Yaounde, Fovu Baham and Dynamo Douala scoring impressive victories that heightens their bid for the semi-finals.
In Douala, where two matches were slated, elite side Dynamo of Douala, beat the only division two club left in the challenge cup race, Kadji Sports Academy, 2 – 1.
State radio reported that, though the local derby was a balance one, Dynamo needed extra-experience and stamina to over-come the youthful football school that has eliminated giants like, Cotonsport of Garoua and Kumbo Strikers.
In the second encounter, visiting Mount Cameroon, humbled Union of Douala, 1-0 in the inner-bowl of the Reunification stadium. With only one year old in the elite championship, the mountain climbers of Buea, seems to be following the foot-prints of Kumbo Strikers, who won the cup last year.
Mbouda, last year elite champion, Fovu of Baham, thrashed Racing Bafoussam, 2 – 0 in a provincial derby. But no matter the out come of the results, the West Province is sure to present a club at the semi-final level.
At the Yaounde Omnisport stadium, Cintra edged cup regulars Canon 1 – 0 in an encounter that was characterised by misses from both sides. If one was to go by the impressions gathered from the two coaches at the end of the encounter, the return leg promises to produce a lot of fire work.
Meanwhile, among the numerous spectators present at the Yaounde Omnisport Stadium was newly recruited trainer of the Indomitable Lions, Winfred Schafer, who arrived Yaounde on Saturday.
