Cameroon Vs Egypt : Tickets on Sale Soon
Prices range from CFA 1,000 to 30,000.
Barely 16 days to the decisive 2006 World Cup / African Cup of Nations qualifier between the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and the Pharaohs of Egypt, sports officials in Cameroon are leaving no stone unturned to ensure a hitch—free encounter. Yesterday, the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Philippe Mbarga Mboa, chaired the third preparatory meeting for the match on 08th October. The meeting brought together all those in the chain of the organisation process — officials of the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT, those of the administrative unit of the national team, the medical and technical staff of the Lions, the forces of law and order, etc.
It was an occasion for the Minister to reiterate the importance of the encounter which will be played at the same time as the other Group 3 match between Sudan and Côte d’Ivoire in Omdurman. "We have not yet qualified for the World Cup. That is why we have to continue to prepare seriously for this encounter which is the key to Germany", he said. In effect, Cameroon, which is just one point ahead of runners up, Côte d’Ivoire, needs a victory on this 10th and last playing day of the elimnatories to be certain of a qualification ticket for the World Cup in Germany.
If we have to go by the different declarations, then preparations are on the right course for the epic encounter in Yaounde. The administrative unit of the team has already sent out invitations to players called to camp by coach, Artur Jorge. The programme for the training camp will soon be published. Meanwhile, special measures would be taken to properly receive players and members of the Egyptian delegation at the Nsimalen International Airport and at their respective hotels. At the level of the Yaounde Omnisport stadium, venue of the match, renovation work is practically over. The turf is being prepared and special provision made for disabled persons. "The disabled are also Cameoronians and have the right to watch the match", Minister Mbarga Mboa said. Sports and Physical Education boss also stressed on the need for all the toilets at the stadium to be functional on the day of the match.
The tariffs for entry tickets were also made public during yesterday’s meeting. According to the General Manager of FECAFOOT, Patrick Precheur, prices would range from CFA 1,000 to 30, 000. In addition, one free green T-shirt would be offered for each ticket brought. Some 40,000 T-shirts would be printed. In effect, on October 08, Cameroonians, who would make it to the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium, are expected to be supporters of the Lions and not just simple spectators. With the exception of the Egyptian supporters, all those at the stadium are expected to be in the green outfits they received when they bought their tickets; a colour that matches with the dominant colour of the outfit of the Lions and symbolises hope.
