Geremi demands Real talks
Cameroon international Geremi Njitap has warned Real Madrid he will not return to Spain for a place on the substitutes´ bench.
The midfielder enjoyed a successful loan season with English Premiership side Middlesbrough, who are keen to retain his services on a permanent basis.
Manchester United have also targeted the 24-year-old, but Real want him to return to the Santiago Bernabeu.
"Real would not let me play and now they don´t want me to leave," said Geremi.
"I liked being part of Real, but I should be able to have a position in the first team.
"Now that my talents have been recognised, a permanent role on the bench is out of the question."
Middlesbrough chief executive Keith Lamb said talks had taken place with Real over the possibility of permanent deal, but added the clubs were unable to agree on a fee.
"Geremi has repeated that he wants to come to Middlesbrough and we would be delighted to have him next season," Lamb told the club´s website.
"We went out to Madrid some time ago and offered his club what we believe was a fair price.
"But we´re a million miles apart on our valuation of him. Unless they move on their valuation that´s the end of it."
Geremi, who is in the Cameroon team for the Confederations Cup tournament, said only a credible performance in France would restore fans´ confidence in the national team.
The African champions performed poorly at the last World Cup finals in Japan and were eliminated from the 2001 Confederations Cup in the first round.
