Fovu and Cintra to play cup finals
Fovu of Baham and Cintra of Yaounde will play the 2001 national football cup finals after eliminating Union of Douala and Dynamo of Douala on a 5 – 4 and 2 – 1 goals aggregate respectively.
After being forced to a 2 – 2 tie by Union of Douala during the away leg encounter last Sunday at the Reunification stadium, Fovu of Baham commanded by last year player of the year, Mokake Elvis, dominated fruitlessly the 120 minutes less spectacular encounter at the Yaounde Omnisport stadium, and could only make a difference during penalty shoot-out where they scored 3 as against 2 for Union.
At the Douala Reunification Stadium, sinking Dynamo Douala alias “Botafogo” were sparkless. Instead of erasing the away goal conceded as expected by supporters, they were instead forced to draw level after Cintra Constillanco Desportivo, went into the lead in the early minutes of the first half.
Yesterday’s victory thus permit the Yaounde team to realised their dream of attaining this year’s national cup finals despite a poor league season.
