Cameroonian coach reviews CAN 2002 squad
Yaounde, Cameroon (PANA) - Cameroon`s head coach, German-born
Winfried Schafer has in an eleventh-hour change, dropped three
players earlier selected into the country`s squad for the Cup of
Nations finals scheduled to kick of 19 January in Mali.
Unlike the list published a week earlier, Schafer has in the
reviewed selection dropped Stephane Biakolo, Joseph Elanga and
Seidou Alioum, replacing the three with Ngom Kome, Joseph Cyril
Ndo and Patrick Suffo.
The complete selection of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon now
includes Alioum Boukar (Samsung, Turkey), Idriss Carlos Kameni
(Juventus, Italy), Songo`o Jacques (Metz FC, France), Tchato Bill
(Montpellier, France), Wome Nlend Pierre (Bologna, Italy) Song
Rigobert (FC Cologne, Germany), Kalla Nkongo Raymond
(Estramadura, Spain), Dika Dika Jean (Uniao, Portugal), Ndo
Joseph Cyrille (Al Kahalees, Saudi Arabia), Geremi Sorel Njitap
(Real Madrid, Spain) and Samuel Eto`o Fils (Majorca, Spain).
Others on the squad are Mboma Patrick (Parma, Italy) Pius Ndiefi
(Sedan, France), Etame Mayer Lauren (Arsenal, England), Mettomo
Lucien (Manchester City, England), Joel Epalle (Panahaki,
Greece), Nicolas Alnoudji (Rize Sport, Turkey), Marc Vivien Foé
(Lyon, France), Suffo Patrick (Sheffield Wednesday, England),
Eric Djemba Djemba (Nantes, France), Olembe Salomon (Olympique
Marseille, France) and Ngom Kome Daniel (Numancia, Spain).
Some observers reckoned the last-minute change might have been to
accommodate certain players who fit better into the Schafer`s
game plan.
The Indomitable Lions play their first match at the Cup of
Nations finals on 20 January against Simba of DR Congo.
