Bertoua and Ngaoundere to host 2001 interpools
The 2001 edition of the national round robin tournament code named “ The Interpools,” will take place in Bertoua (East Province) and Ngaoundere (Adamawa Province) respectively.
Initially announced by the Vice-Secretary General of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), Esoka Ndoki Mukete, to take place in Yaounde and Douala, the competition which usually bring together champion teams from the ten provinces of Cameroon, last year witnessed a hike (10 –14 teams ) in the number of teams.
Last year, three provinces (South West, Littoral and Centre Provinces) with the highest number of registered players in both the second and third division league presented two teams each in the final phase of the competition that was co-hosted by the North West and West Provinces.
For now only, Victoria United of Limbe and Rangers F.C of Bemanda, from the South West and North West Provinces have qualified for the final phase of the 2001 edition of the interpools.
Victoria United obtained their qualification after defeating Botafogo F.C on a 3 – 2 aggregate. While Rangers F.C qualified after eliminating P.W.D 5 – 3 on penalties.
Meanwhile, if last year`s decision (that provinces with the highest number of registered players should present two teams each) is maintained, second placed Botafogo F.C from the South West would just like last year join Victoria United for the interpools expedition.
