Sunderland Win Battle For Marseille Midfielder M`Bami
Marseille`s Cameroon international holding midfielder Modeste M`Bami could be on the verge of a move to the Stadium of Light according to reports.
Sunderland are poised to edge out Premier League rivals Blackburn Rovers and Portsmouth for this signing of Olympique de Marseille midfielder Modeste M`Bami.
According to a report in the British tabloid the Sun, the Mackems are favourites to land the Cameroonian international, who has won 28 caps to date, for a fee of €6.3 million.
The 26-year-old is in his third season with l`OM after completing a move to the Stade Velodrome in 2006 from French rivals Paris-St. Germain.
Although he has a reputation as an attacking player, he is probably better known for his defensive qualities as a midfielder, scoring only two goals in Ligue 1 since 2000.
