Geremi set to miss friendly
Indomitable Lions star Geremi Njitap is a doubt for Cameroon`s clash with Argentina on March 26, as he is still suffering with an ankle injury.
He picked up the injury in the final of the African Nations Cup, although he should be back in time for the World Cup.
The African and Olympic champions are facing Argentina, probably in Belgium, after the original venue in Marseille had to be rearranged after it was revealed that France are playing Scotland on the same date at the same venue. This forced coach Winfried Schaefer to look for an alternative stadium.
But Geremi`s chances of taking part looks bleak as he was left to rue Real Madrid`s King`s Cup defeat from the bench on Wednesday.
He said: "My ankle still hurts and I must take it easy and not risk anything.
"It was painful though to watch the cup slip away from us from the stand. The defeat did spoil our centenary party."
This means the player will not be physically ready for The Lions` showdown with Argentina, who they so famously defeated 1-0 in 1990 in the opening match of the Italia `90 World Cup.
Real lost 2-1 to Deportivo La Coruna in on the night they celebrated their centenary but Geremi said the anniversary put too much pressure on the players.
"On a normal day, we would have won easy, but the centenary anniversary weighed too much in the mind and at the end we all went home to mourn," he added.
