Nkono gets one-year ban
Cameroon`s goalkeeping coach Thomas Nkono has been banned for a year following his side`s semi-final with Mali.
Caf said that the ban was for "outrageous and provocative" behaviour both before and after the Indomitable Lions` 3-0 victory on Thursday.
Nkoko was at the centre of a fracas as he and Cameroon coach stepped onto the pitch 90 minutes before kick-off.
Police officers surrounded the two men almost immediately, and there were claims Nkono had tried to throw something onto the pitch.
Nkono was handcuffed and led away, but Caf said that if he was not released the game would not be allowed to go ahead.
Now an explanation has been released regarding the police actions.
Caf stated that Nkono had tried to go onto the pitch before the permitted time, and when challenged he had "acted aggressively towards police officers and attempted to enter the field by force."
Provocative behaviour
Ibrahim Sorry Makanguile, president of the local organising committee COCAN, further revealed that: "The tournament regulations of the Confederation of African Football state clearly that access to the playing field is restricted."
"Access is indicated on a wearer`s accreditation badge. Mr Nkono was not displaying his accreditation properly and therefore police were acting in accordance with regulations," he added.
Caf added that despite their intervention to have Nkono released, he "continued to direct insults towards officials and he continued to act outrageously and provocatively towards officials and authorities."
The ban begins with immediate effect, meaning Nkono will not be able to join his team for the final.
He would have joined coach Winfred Schafer in exile, but the German appealled successfully to have his ban overturned.
Schafer has been given a one-match ban for his role in the incident.
