Song`s suspension confusion
Confusion about the status of Cameroon`s Rigobert Song and worries over the safety of the host`s next match hang over the African Nations Cup.
During the week, Cameroon captain Song, who picked up a booking in Cameroon`s final group match against Togo, was quoted as saying that he was disappointed at not being able to play in the quarter-final match against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The official CAF list, however, has only one player suspended for the quarter-finals, and it is not the dreadlocked defender, but Egypt`s Tarek Sayed, who was booked in The Pharaohs` defeat against Senegal and their victory against Zambia.
Organisers of the showpiece of African football are concerned ahead of Sunday`s game between the host nation and South Africa that the situation outside the stadium in Keyes could lead to problems. The stadium holds only 15,000 people, but the Malians have been drawing some 60,000 to their games.
As runners-up in their group, Mali have to play their quarter-final clash against Bafana in Keyes.
