Prince Ndoki Mukete : "The Second Playing Day Will be Exciting"
The appraisal of Prince Ndoki Mukete, Co-ordinator of Pool B of the National Interpools in Buea.
assessment of the matches played during day one ?
I am satisfied considering that in the other Pool, there were problems which were going to be inherent here by the misunderstanding of certain people. But with some openness, we were able to go through. I want to apologise to the Chief Executive of this Province, the Governor, who because of his tight schedule could not have been briefed on all that was necessary for him to co-ordinate. But he gave his total cooperation and we took off.
What appraisal can you make of the quality of the Game in the Buea Pool ?
When a competition starts, it`s like an engine. It starts slowly because people are trying to watch their opponents. But having played the first day and people having seen the other teams play, and with the given results; they start preparing for the next lap. Matches for the second playing day are certainly going to be different from those of the first playing day. The matches would be more exciting.
What are some of the problems that you have faced and what solutions in the pipeline ?
People have known FECAFOOT as a money-generating entity, and where there is so much largesse; that is where money could make things work. But this time, the Director confessed that we don`t have the same means as we use to have because of the difficulties at the level of FECAFOOT. So we are trying to make do with the little we have, and it requires a lot of explanations for other people to understand that if they can`t get what they want, it is not out of greed but because of management. We are trying to manage well for things to go through.
Have any of the teams complained to you of certain lapses, either concerning finance or logistics ?
That is at the level of the clubs because the Federation took the responsibility of transporting the clubs from their towns of residence to where they are playing. Moreover, MTN gave them a package of CFA 4 million francs each, which was supposed to take care of their lodging. They are managing that themselves. However, we have a permanent secretariat based at OIC, Buea, which has an open line to ensure that communication flows. I`ve never received any major complain from any of the teams.
