"It`s a special shirt for a special team"
After Cameroon`s forgettable 1-0 win over DR Congo in the opening match of Group C, the main talking point of the match was the player`s shirts.
The players took to the pitch in a new design for a football shirt, for their tops had no sleeves.
The shirts were specially designed by kit-makers Puma for play in sub-Saharan heat.
And striker Patrick Suffo said he was very impressed.
"They look like basketball shirts but they were perfect for us in this weather," he enthused.
Suffo, who plays his club football in terminally cold Sheffield, added that he was unsure whether the shirt would make it to the World Cup finals in Korea and Japan.
"I don`t know about the World Cup, I don`t know what FIFA think about them."
"It`s a special shirt for a special team."
Somewhat bizarrely, several players on the Nigeria side - possibly Cameroon`s biggest rivals in the tournament - took to the pitch in their game against Algeria in long sleeves.
