Cotonsport and Racing stay on top
Martin Etonge
In spite of a goalless draw with PWD Bamenda in a day four action on Sunday, Racing Bafoussam continue their stay on top of Pool B, while Cotonsport Garoua hold strong to the leadership baton in Pool A.
Both Cotonsport and Racing have 10 points each after Coton Sport forcefully harvested a narrow 1-0 win away in Bafang against locals Unisport. But Fovu Baham who have won all three of their games are just a point behind Cotonsport in Pool A.
Still in that pool, Tonnerre Yaounde came from behind to beat Cintra Yaounde 3-1. That victory enables Tonnerre to stand third on the table with 7 points. While the sick men of the pool remain Dang University Ngaoundere. They lost again on Sunday, 0-1 to Sable Batie and have no point after three games.
Racing have a clean three-point lead in Pool B. They are seconded by Canon Yaounde and Renaissance Ngoumou after both teams recorded a goalless draw in Yaounde.
In what may turn out to be their revival, Bamboutos Mbouda recorded the best result of the season so far, humiliating hosts Union Douala 4-0. With this first win and points in the season, Bmboutos are sending a strong message to future opponents. They will next host Esperance Guider.
But times are still rough for oldies PWD Bamenda and Victoria United Limbe. They are bottom placed in Pool B with only a point a piece. While PWD drew 0-0 with Racing to earn their first point this season, Victoria United lost to Esperance Guider 0-1.
If PWD and Victoria United do not improve on their lot when they respectively meet Union and Renaissance in day five, then they will stay for a long time in the relegation zone.
