Blanco leaves Mexico national team
MEXICO,
- Real Valladolid striker Cuauhtemoc Blanco revealed on Monday about his intentions to leave the Mexico national team due to the mistreatement and discrimination carried out by the federation.
The Mexican international said he made the final decision to leave the national team after the criticism for not joining the team for the friendly match against Spain. Blanco said he has played his last match for the Mexican team on November 11, where the striker scored the two out of three goals, which secured the team`s qualification for the World Cup.
"My stint has ended. The team cracked me, it broke me," stated the striker.
Blanco said that his current major goal is to focus on the winning-streak of the Spanish club
Valladolid, adding that he rejected to join the Mexican team as a personal protest.
The striker revealed that he was given a plain ticket to Mexico with four stops, while RCD Espanyol player Francisco Palencia was given a first-class direct flight ticket. Besides, the striker added that the Mexican soccer federation didn`t make the necessary payments for treatment, while he was still recovering from a fracture suffered in Mexico`s game against Trinidad and Tobago.
Blanco has returned to the Mexican team after the 10-month recovery for CONCACAF qualifying rounds last four games, scoring five goals in the Mexico`s qualifying matches for the World Cup. The Mexican international has also played for the national team in the Pan American games, the 1996 Summer Games in Atlanta; the 1996,1998 and 2000 Gold Cups; the 1997 and 1999 American Cup; the 1998 World Cup and finally the qualifying rounds for the WC-2002.
