Cameroon get fresh blood
Cameroon manager Winfried Schafer has invited three new players to the national side as they prepare for the defence of their African Nations Cup title in Tunisia.
Alain Webo from the Spanish club Osasuna, Jean Makoun of French club Lille and Marcus Mokake of Canon Yaounde are the new additions to the squad.
Mokake`s call-up to the Indomitable Lions follows his impressive performance at the All Africa Games in Nigeria, where his seven goals helped the under-23 side to the football gold medal.
Mokake and Eric Kwekeu, from Bamboutos, are the only domestic players included in Cameroon`s Nations Cup preparations.
The Indomitable Lions are expected to begin camping in France on 10 November and will travel to Lyon to play in a match being played in memory of the late midfielder Marc-Vivien Foe.
After the 11 November game, the squad will train in Saint Etienne before travelling to Tokyo for a friendly game against Japan.
However, Schafer has published different team lists for both ties - 28 players were invited for the Foe charity game but only 22 will be involved in Nations Cup preparations.
Former African Player of the Year Patrick Mboma and Lauren Etame Mayer are missing from the list of 22.
Joseph Desire Job and Pius Ndiefi are other notable absentees from the Nations Cup training camp.
