35 million francs CFA to meritorious athletes
Four Cameroonian athletes, François Mbango, Marie Léonie, Mireille Nguimgo and Joseph Batandong who took part at the Ottawa and Edmonton games in Canada, on Wednesday, October 24 received the sum of 35 million francs CFA as government compensation.
With the above sum therefore, François Mbango, took home 13 million francs cfa, Marie Léonie 10 million francs cfa, Mireille Nguimgo and Batandong Joseph hard 5 million francs cfa each..
Apart from the compensation package which include participating bonuses, re-imbursement of medical expenditure incurred during training, the athletes were also offered three years scholarships in Europe to enable them prepare for the 2004 Olympic Games in Greece.
It was the second time within a month that the three athletes were being received by the minister of youth and sports.
