Weaklings reach cup quarter finals

Two teams which are struggling against relegation from the national division one football league have surprisingly qualified for the quarter-finals of the cup of Cameroon.
Kumbo Strikers and Victoria United (Opopo) made a giant step into that reserve circle by eliminating league giants Bamboutos Mbouda and strugglers Asmy Yaounde, respectively.
In the return leg 8th finals matches played on Sunday, Kumbo Strikers had a one all draw with Bamboutos in Mbouda, but went through 2-1 on aggregate. Opopo lost 1-3 in Yaounde, but their huge 3-0 win in the away leg helped them through.
PMUC Douala are the only division two minnows to reach this stage of the challenge. They edged Douala rivals Caiman 1-0 and qualified 2-1 on aggregate.
Cintra Yaounde had it easy in Ngaoundere. They beat the University of Ngaoundere 2-1 and had an aggregate of 5-2. While Mt. Cameroon FC Buea scored three goals in the second half to humble Renaissance Ngoumou, 3-0. Mt Cameroon lost the way leg in Yaounde 1-2.
Unisport Bafang are getting nearer to the final, the stage they reached in 2000. Unisport beat division two side Sahel FC Maroua 2-1, after a 1-0 away win.
Sable too went through over Espoir Ebolowa, edging them 2-0 on aggregate. It was one nil each way.
Canon were the talk of the day as they made non sense of Union Douala, beating them on identical 4-2 home and away. Canon confirmed their total domination of Union this season. They have won all four games against Union, scoring 13 goals while conceding 5.
