FIFA Rankings - Cameroon Still Top In Africa
Despite losing to South Africa in a friendly last month, Cameroon have maintained their African leadership in the monthly FIFA world rankings for the month of December.
The Cameroonians are also the 14th best team in the world as they were in November. They have accumulated a total of 989 points.
African champions Egypt are ranked second on the continent and moved up the ladder in the world five places. They are now ranked 16th overall after amassing a total of 894 points.
It is the best ever global rating for the six-time African champions. Their previous best ranking was achieved in June 2006 when they were 17th in the world.
Nigeria are third in Africa and 19th in the world while Ghana are the fourth best on the continent and 25th worldwide. Ghana moved a place up in the global ratings.
The other countries in the African top 10 are Ivory Coast, Guinea, Mali, Tunisia, Senegal and Gabon.
