Bayern may look a Song option
Cameroon captain Rigobert Song is understood to be a target of Bayern Munich, following the six-match ban handed to Sammy Kuffour.
The Ghanaian central defender was banned for dangerous play in the semi-final of the FA Cup against Schalke. And it could be a massive boost for the former Liverpool in-form defender as he prepares for his fourth World Cup appearance with The Indomitable Lions.
Song, on loan with struggling German side FC Cologne from West Ham, is on the shopping list of Bayern, whose managing director Uli Hoeness revealed the club could put in a bid for him next week.
The European champions may now be forced to speed things up with Kuffour missing the crucial run-in to the end of the Bundesliga season, with the Munich side looking for their fourth consecutive domestic title.
The defender, who led The Lions to their second consecutive African Nations Cup triumph, can`t wait to move to the Bavarian club.
"What more can I wish for," said an excited Song. "I will be happy to go out there and fight for honours every week. There is no point playing in the Second Division. If Cologne are relegated I have to move on."
