ROME
- Reports of matches in the Italian first division:
Played on Sunday:
ATALANTA 2 LECCE 1
Atalanta striker Fausto Rossini marked his comeback from injury by breaking the deadlock in the 24th minute with a diving header from Paolo Foglio`s cross. Six minutes later Alex Pinardi beat a floundering Lecce goalkeeper Antonio Chimenti to double the advantage.
Lecce gave themselves hope at the start of the second half when Bruno Cirillo beat the offside trap to slot home from close range but Atalanta held on.

BOLOGNA 2 AC MILAN 0
Giuseppe Signori made his first league start in six months and once again the striker proved just how important he is to Francesco Guidolin`s side. The former Lazio striker`s third-minute free kick ricocheted off the upright and into the path of Salvatore Fresi, who nodded home.
Then an inspired Signori slipped a fine through ball to Julio Cruz who beat the offside trap and waltzed past Christian Abbiati to slot into the empty net.

FIORENTINA 0 UDINESE 0
David Di Michele almost put Udinese ahead after the break but his shot, after a fine run, struck the post.
Fiorentina`s Domenico Morfeo and Adriano both went close but it was their own `keeper Alex Manninger who proved decisive, making superb saves to foil Roberto Muzzi and South African Silabong Nomvete in the latter stages.

LAZIO 1 AS ROMA 5
AS Roma coach Fabio Capello left out the injured Gabriel Batistuta in favour of Vincenzo Montella. It was a wise decision as Montella struck a derby record of four goals in the 5-1 drubbing.
Montella headed Roma into the lead on 12 minutes, anticipated Lazio defender Alessandro Nesta to toe-poke in from close range on 30 minutes and connected on Francesco Totti`s free kick seven minutes later to end the first half with a hat-trick.
It took an absolute screamer from Dejan Stankovic to spark up the second half as the Yugoslav slotted in from 30 metres out to put Lazio on the board.
However, Montella put a stop to any dreams of a Lazio comeback with his fourth goal of the game, a blast from 20 metres that ricocheted off the crossbar and into the net. Totti ended the scoring with a delicate lob past goalkeeper Angelo Peruzzi in the 72nd minute sending Roma to the top of Serie A, ahead of Inter Milan on goal difference.

PIACENZA 2 PERUGIA 0
Piacenza attacked from the start and brought fine saves out of Perugia goalkeeper Oscar Cordoba with Carmine Gautieri, Paolo Poggi and Sergio Volpi all denied.
The Colombian goalkeeper was eventually beaten in the 31st minute when Eusebio Di Francesco beat the offside trap to drive into the far corner. Dario Hubner made sure of a vital victory five minutes from time as he dribbled past two defenders and then Cordoba to slot home his 21st goal of the season.

TORINO 2 CHIEVO VERONA 2
Chievo went ahead in the 21st minute when Bernardo Corradi reacted quickly to scramble home a poor Torino clearance. But four minutes later Christian Manfredini was sent off for elbowing Gianluca Comotto and Luigi Del Neri`s men were forced to play the remaining hour of the match with ten men.
After the restart Torino drew level on the counter-attack when Riccardo Maspero fed Marco Ferrante for the equaliser. Torino then pressed the self-destruct button and a weak backpass was easily intercepted by Corradi, who slotted home his second goal of the match in the 53rd minute.
But Maspero came to the rescue as his curling free kick from the edge of the box on the hour left Chievo goalkeeper Cristiano Lupatelli with no chance for the much deserved equaliser.

VENEZIA 1 BRESCIA 2
Bottom club Venezia opened the scoring with a Federico Magallanes counter-attack and cool finish three minutes before halftime. Eleven minutes after the restart defender Fabio Bilica was harshly adjudged to have brought down Chilean substitute Mario Salgado and Federico Giunti converted the penalty.
Just moments later the game was turned around completely as Salgado fired in a low drive from the edge of the box to give Brescia an important away victory and keep their hopes of staying in the top flight alive.

VERONA 1 PARMA 0
Parma should have had the lead when Verona`s Paolo Cannavaro, brother of Parma`s Fabio, handled in the box, but Verona keeper Fabrizio Ferron did extremely well to turn Marco Di Vaio`s spot-kick round the post.
The winner came six minutes from time when Emiliano Salvetti was brought down by Sergei Gurenko and Romanian Adrian Mutu converted the penalty.

Played on Saturday:
INTER MILAN 2 JUVENTUS 2
Dutch international Clarence Seedorf unleashed an unstoppable volley from 20 metres out to put Inter ahead after six minutes. But Juventus striker David Trezeguet levelled when he rose to head home Gianluca Zambrotta`s cross seven minutes later. Juve looked to have taken the points nine minutes from time when Pavel Nedved fired a long free-kick into the area and Igor Tudor got the slightest of touches on a header to beat Inter goalkeeper Francesco Toldo.
But the drama was not over as deep into stoppage time Seedorf scored an even more impressive goal than his opener, a swerving rocket from 30 metres out giving his side a deserved point.
