Cingular presents FCB On Tour USA 2006: More than 100,000 tickets already sold

More that 100,000 tickets have already been sold for the three-game FC Barcelona 2006 U.S. Tour, presented by Cingular, which includes games in Los Angeles (Aug. 6), Houston (Aug. 9) and New York (Aug. 12). European champions FC Barcelona, widely considered the best team in the world today, features some of soccer`s top stars including FIFA World Player of the Year Ronaldinho (Brazil), 18-year-old sensation Lionel Messi (Argentina), and African Player of the Year Samuel Eto`o (Cameroon). The team also recently acquired 2006 World Cup champion Gianluca Zambrotta (Italy) and World Cup finalist Lilian Thuram (France).
Prime sections in each of the three stadiums (Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Reliant Stadium and Giants Stadium) have already sold out with remaining tickets moving at a brisk pace. Tickets start as low as $25 for general admission seats in Los Angeles.

"With the complete FC Barcelona roster traveling to the United States, including our two most recent acquisitions, it will be a fantastic opportunity for soccer fans to see some of the greatest stars of the world in action."
FC Barcelona will kick off its tour on Sunday, August 6 when it takes on storied Mexican club and Copa Libertadores semifinalists Chivas de Guadalajara at the historic LA Coliseum, in a doubleheader that kicks off at 4:00 PM with an MLS match-up between Los Angeles-based Chivas USA and the New England Revolution. The event will also mark the beginning of the celebrations of Chivas Guadalajara`s centenary.
The tour continues on Aug. 9 in Houston when FC Barcelona battles Club America, one of Mexico`s top club teams and reigning CONCACAF champions, in a doubleheader at Reliant Stadium that starts at 7:00 PM with an MLS Western Conference showdown between the Houston Dynamo and the Los Angeles Galaxy. The match between FC Barcelona and Club America could be a preview of a showdown in December`s FIFA Club World Cup.
On August 12, the tour culminates with a marquee game between FC Barcelona and MLS` New York Red Bulls at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey (7:30 PM kick-off).
The large crowds will be joined by an equally large media contingent as 550 journalist representing 17 different countries have applied for accreditation.
FC Barcelona has won 18 Spanish league titles, 24 Copa del Rey titles and has twice been crowned champions of Europe. The Spanish giants most recently defeated Arsenal 2-1 in the 2005-`06 UEFA Champions League final to capture their second European crown. Nearly a dozen Barcelona players represented their respective national teams in this summer`s FIFA World Cup.
