Cameroon to host World Cup training camps in Paris
YAOUNDE (Reuters) - Cameroon have organised two training camps in Paris over the next six weeks in a bid to revive their slim chances of qualifying for a fifth successive World Cup finals appearance.
Coach Artur Jorge will assemble his players for two separate camps, the first between August 15-18 and the second from August 28-September 2, the Cameroon football federation (FECAFOOT) said on Monday.
Both camps will be held in the French capital, with almost all of Cameroon`s squad based with clubs in Europe.
Cameroon must beat group three leaders the Ivory Coast away in Abidjan when the two sides meet on September 4 to stand any chance of progressing. If the Ivorians win, they will qualify for a first ever World Cup appearance.
"When I took over as coach we had a five-point deficit behind the Ivory Coast, now it is only two," said Jorge, who took over at the start of the year from the German coach Winfried Schafer.
"For us to go to the World Cup next year we simply have to win in Abidjan, but it`s not going to be easy," added the Portuguese-born coach.
