4-Nation Tourney for Eagles
Lagos
Nigeria will host a four-nation tournament in November as part of preparations for next year`s African Nations Cup finals in Mali, according to Super Eagles coach Amodu Shaibu.
He named reigning African champions and fierce rivals Cameroon, and European sides Belgium and Norway, as the invited teams for the tournament, which will be played in Lagos.
"After the tournament, we intend playing friendlies against African opponents before we start camp on January 2 for the Nations Cup," Shaibu told BBC Sport`s Online.
No dates have been set for the tournament.
The Super Eagles and Cameroon`s Indomitable Lions have both qualified for the Nations Cup and the 2002 World Cup. Both teams have an intense rivalry which began in the 1960s and the Cameroonians beat Nigeria on penalties to win the trophy at last year`s Nations` Cup.
While Belgium will be involved in a play-off in November to determine if they can secure a World Cup place, Norway are no longer in qualification contention.
