Cotonsport clear to get D1 leadership after day 28
Cameroon’s current football elite league leaders, Cotonsport of Garoua, are almost certain to lift this year’s championship title thanks to their 1 – 0 victory over Union Douala on Sunday that puts them seven points clear of their rivals Tonnerre Yaounde.
Cotonsport now stand at 57 points while Tonnerre, who lost 0 – 2 to Stade Bandjoun stay at 50 points, just two days to go in the competition. So unless they are subtracted points from some contentious issue, they will top this year’s championship even if they lose their last two matches while Tonnerre win theirs.
Meanwhile, Dynamo of Douala’s boycott of their Day 28 match against Mt Cameroon FC, Buea against a FECAFOOT decision to subtract them three points takes them further into the relegation zone. Here below are the complete day 28 results:
Tonnerre 0 – Stade Bandjoun 2
Cotonsport 1 – Union Douala 0
Cintra Yaounde 2– Girondins Ngaoundere 2
Olympics Mvolye 1 - Sable Batie 1
Kumbo Strikers 0 - Canon Yaounde 0
Esperance Guinder 4 - Racong Bafoussam 0
Fovu Baham 0 - Unisport 0
Mount Cameroon Buea – Dynamo Douala (Dynamo failed to turn up)
