England 2 Cameroon 2
Robbie Fowler scored deep into injury-time with a neat header as England salvaged a draw against the African champions.
The Leeds United man was picked out by Teddy Sheringham`s nod back to finish calmly, just when his side looked destined to go into the World Cup off the back of a defeat.
Injury-hit England went behind on five minutes from Cameroon`s first attack, when Pierre Wome took down a pass in space on the left and looped the ball over goalkeeper Nigel Martyn.
The attempted cross hit the far post and fortuitously bounced out to Mallorca star Samuel Eto`o, who adjusted quickly to fire past the Leeds No 1.
Darius Vassell grabbed his third international goal in four starts for the equaliser. The Aston Villa forward collected a pass from Paul Scholes on 12 minutes and fired in off the right upright.
Chelsea target Geremi curled a free-kick in off the post following Gareth Southgate`s handball on the edge of the box to put Cameroon back in charge.
The Real Madrid midfielder picked his spot on 58 minutes to give substitute goalkeeper David James little chance, although his positioning looked slightly awry.
Cameroon took charge in the second half, with Patrick Mboma a particular danger in attack before he became one of many players substituted by coach Winfried Schafer.
Trevor`s Sinclair`s effort from a corner, which was scrambled off the line, and Sheringham`s flicked header following good build-up by Wayne Bridge and Sinclair, were as close as England came before Fowler came off the bench to level.
