Cameroon strengthen squad
Winfried Schafer, Cameroon`s coach, has included Pierre Njanka and Joseph-Desire Job in the Indomitable Lions pre-World Cup squad.
Schafer, in Tokyo to attend a Fifa workshop for the World Cup participants, said he will not make drastic changes to their African Nations Cup-winning team.
"I have the core of my team now and I`m happy with them. I wo`t be experimenting much at all in the upcoming games. We are looking for consistency," Schafer said.
Njanka, who scored a memorable goal for Cameroon at the 1998 World Cup finals, was injured just after being loaned to English first division side, Portsmouth.
He had been struggling to get a first team place at French first division club, Strasbourg last year.
Job was Njanka`s team mate at France `98 but was left out of the squad for Mali 2002. He failed to claim a regular first team place at English Premiership side, Middlesbrough.
Fighting for a return to international football, Job went back to the French league, where he plays for Metz.
Match worries
Cameroon`s friendly match against Argentina, scheduled for Marseille on March 27th, could be in jeopardy.
It clashes with France`s friendly against Scotland in Paris, fixed for the same day.
"We want to play in Marseille because we have a lot of fans in the area, but it looks like we cannot play the same night as the French team, for reasons of marketing and television coverage," said Schafer.
Cameroon have subsequent games against Austria in April and Denmark on May 17th.
On May 26th, five days before the start of the World Cup finals, they will play England in Kobe, Japan.
