Eto`o suffers Getafe abuse again
The referee at Sunday`s Spanish league match between Getafe and Barcelona has reported the Madrid club`s fans for making racist chants at Barca`s Cameroon striker Samuel Eto`o.
"At various points throughout the game when Barcelona`s Eto`o contested the ball, some sectors of the crowd imitated the sound of a monkey," referee Arturo Dauden Ibanez wrote in his official match report.
"The game was stopped once because of this and an announcement put out on the public address system, asking people to stop making the noises.
"The club also put a message on the electronic scoreboard saying `No to racism`."
Getafe were fined US$700 last year, after the corresponding fixture, following similar incidents of racist chanting on Eto`o.
Eto`o scored the opening goal of the match in the first minute to ensure Barca`s 3-1 win.
"We should all unite to fight these kinds of racist acts," Eto`o said.
"What`s most important is that the footballers are united against it.
"I would like to thank the directors of Getafe for the way they acted and hope that other stadiums will take note of what they did."
