CAN cash boost for Super Eagles
Super Eagles will get a big slice of the cake if they win CAN
Nigeria`s Super Eagles could make up to $30,000 each if they win the African Cup of Nations next year.
The Nigeria Football Association (NFA) has announced what bonuses it will pay the players at each stage of the tournament, which starts in Mali on 19 January.
Players will be paid bonuses for wins in the group stages, quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final.
NFA spokesperson Sani Zaria said that each player would be paid $4,000 for a win in the group matches - Nigeria will play three games in this phase.
The players will also receive $5,000 each should they win their quarter-final match while victory in the semi-finals will earn each player $6,000, Zaria said.
Signed undertaking
If Nigeria then go on to win the tournament they have won twice before, each player would receive another $8,000.
If the team go through the tournament unbeaten it would mean a cash boost of $31,000 each.
Zaria said the players and the NFA would sign an undertaking in respect of the bonus approved for the Nations Cup so as to avoid any disagreements at the tournament.
Money has often been a problematic issue between players and authorities in Nigeria.
In the past players have accused the country`s football authorities of short changing them.
Nigeria, who are one of the favourites to win the Nations Cup, are drawn in Group A along with with home team Mali, Algeria and Liberia.
