Under-20 draw gives Group of Death
The draws of the Under-20 Nations Cup held in Cairo on Friday has pitted three former champions against each other in a group of death.
Ghana, Morocco and Egypt have been drawn in the same group for next year`s Nations Cup in Burkina Faso.
Twice-winners Ghana and Egypt will face the 1997 champions Morocco in the competition`s group of death, which also includes Ivory Coast.
Ghana and Egypt met six times last year in friendlies and at the semi-finals stage of both the Nations Cup in Ethiopia and the World Cup in Argentina.
Morocco last played in the Under-20s as hosts five years ago, which was the same tournament the Ivorians made their previous appearance.
Two teams will qualify from each group for the semi-finals and for the group Bobo Dioulasso group of death, the North Africans travel to Burkina Faso with the best qualifying record.
An exciting Moroccan youth Atlas Lions knocked out Nigeria after winning 2-1 in Port Harcourt and Egypt drew 0-0 in Harare after beating the Zimbabweans 2-0 in Cairo.
Host nation Burkina Faso seem to have an easy group with newcomers Gabon, Mali and South Africa playing in group A based in the capital Ouagadougou.
The 2001 champions Angola were eliminated in the qualifying rounds.
The semi-finalists in Burkina Faso will qualify for the Under-20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates in March-April next year.
