Can Cameroon do it again?
Cameroon get another chance to enhance their growing reputation when they take on the might of Argentina in a friendly in Geneva next week.
The two sides met in the opening game of the 1990 World Cup finals in Italy in a game that produced one of the most glorious results in African football history.
The Indomitable Lions shocked Diego Maradona`s defending world champions 1-0, registering sub-Saharan Africa`s first victory at the game`s top level.
Full strength
After beating Brazil and Chile en route to the 2000 Olympic title, the African champions are highly regarded in South America.
From the Argentine point of view, this is the first time they have been at full strength this year, with coach Marcelo Bielsa keen to recapture the momentum of their triumphant qualification campaign.
Bielsa was anxious to face African opposition in preparation for his side`s World Cup opener against Nigeria`s Super Eagles.
Shadow
This is another game with loud historical echoes, and not just from the final of the 1996 Olympics.
Diego Maradona`s final game for his country was against the Nigerians in the 94 World Cup.
Now Argentina`s current generation, led by the enigmatic Juan Sebastien Veron, want to show that they are ready to step out of his shadow.
