Bartlett boost for South Africa ahead of Morocco clash
SEGOU,
South Africa striker Shaun Bartlett is expected to be fit for his team`s crunch Nations Cup Group B showdown with Morocco next week, team doctors told AFP here Tuesday.
Bartlett damaged a calf during Sunday`s bruising 0-0 draw with Burkina Faso, and has already been ruled out of Thursday`s game with Ghana in a blow to `Bafana Bafana`s hopes.
But the Charlton Athletic player is likely to have recovered in time for next Wednesday`s final group game against the `Atlas Lions` of Morocco.
"He has been responding very well to treatment and even though you cannot be too certain with injuries, he should be ready to go by the Morocco match," said South Africa`s team doctor Zied Eshak.
Bartlett has spent hours at the swimming pool to regain match fitness and has not taken part in training as a result of the injury, according to the official.
