Cameroon return to first African position on FIFA rankings

Though the Indomitable Lions did not win any place in the FIFA monthly rankings for June 2005, they have regained the first position in Africa.
The hitherto first position Nigeria lost six points and four places, while Cameroon won four points but remained at 26th.
For the best part of last year Cameroon were number one on the continent and still hold the best record of Africa after notching the 13th position.
Nigeria now stand third on the continent at 29, a place behind Egypt who won eight points. Morocco must be the biggest point winners of the month, after wining 17 points and two places to be 33rd.
Nations Cup holders, Tunisia are 38th and 6th in Africa below Senegal, 37th after losing four places. Bafana Bafana of South Africa occupy the 39th position, down one place, followed by Ivory Coast (46, down two places), Zimbabwe (53, up four places) and Mali complete Africa’s Top ten chart (59, down one place).
Thanks to their splendid performances in the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Togo are the biggest movers of the month in Africa, climbing 12 places to stand 67th. The other movers are the DR Congo (68, up nine places) and Guinea (83, up nine places).
Meantime the Top Three – Brazil with 829 points, Czech Republic with 790 and Argentina with 785 points maintained their positions. The Netherlands won 24 points and gained a place to stand fourth.
