Metsu under fire
The Lions of Senegal have been criticised in the local media for their 4-2 loss in Dakar to the Stallions of Burkina Faso last Wednesday.
Two goals from Amadou Touré, and second half strikes from Wilfried Sanou and Tanguy Barro condemned the Lions to Wednesday`s defeat.
Metsu came under harsh criticism in the influential daily, Le Soleil, which wrote a critical article entitled "Metsu`s Fault, Totally".
In his defence, Metsu can argue that the team was made up of fringe players.
Goalkeeper Samuel Monin, who plays for Scottish club, Raith Rovers, was at fault for the second goal and generally had a poor match.
But Striker Pape Thiaw earned his match fee. The bulky marksman scored the opening goal from the penalty spot.
Burkina Faso coach, Jacques Yameogo, was understandably pleased with his victory.
"It`s a good result for our team. For us, it wasn`t a question about playing Senegal`s first or second team, we just played against the guys in front of us".
The Lions play Algeria`s Desert Warriors on Saturday. Bruno Metsu has promised a markedly better performance.
"Today was simply a chance to take a look at everyone in my squad. Now everyone can see that you have to be very good indeed to get into this team. Against Algeria, Senegal`s best team will play."
A resounding victory would make Wednesday`s loss a distant memory.
