Robson ends Nigeria interest
Bryan Robson has ruled himself out of the Nigeria post
Former England captain Bryan Robson has said he is no longer interested in the possibility of assuming managerial control of Nigeria`s Super Eagles.
The Nigeria Football Association (NFA) had offered the Englishman a six-month contract in October, but on Tuesday Nigeria`s Sports Minister Musa Mohammed refused to sanction the move.
Mohammed rejected the appointment as he didn`t believe the NFA could afford Robson`s reported US$50,000 a month salary.
A spokesman for the NFA board claimed on Wednesday that the Robson deal is on hold until after next January`s Nations Cup finals, but the former England captain has since ruled himself out of the job.
"They (the NFA) haven`t come through with the things which I asked for - such as travel, accommodation for the players and all that type of thing," Robson told the BBC Sport website.
"So they couldn`t get to an agreement with me and that`s the end of it as far as I`m concerned."
When asked whether he would be interested in the Nigeria post should the NFA approach him after the Nations Cup, the former England captain replied, "No, that`s it - finished."
Christian Chukwu, the coach who Robson was to replace as Super Eagles supremo, will now lead Nigeria in the 2004 Nations Cup finals in Tunisia.
The Super Eagles will play in Group D alongside Morocco, South Africa and debutants Benin.
