Despite good organisation FECAFOOT complain of low gate takings
Though FECAFOOT officials are worried over the small amounts of gate takings in Ngaoundere, they have received a pat on the back from the clubs for good organizations. In a technical meeting on Thursday, the clubs expressed satisfaction with the organisation team headed by FECAFOOT vice-president, Charles Emedec. The clubs said they were happy to notice that the hitches in the opening days were over and glad with the fact that they were associated in decision making. For instance, the clubs options in the programming of matches, that is the day and time, were accepted by FECAFOOT.
The commendation of the clubs may only have wiped the tears of the organizers. But they continue to weep over the low turn out of spectators in the Ndimbe Oumar stadium. After three days of play, tickets worth only about two million FCFA have been bought. In day one on 27 October, the gate fee amounted to 1,065,000 FCFA. That figure dropped by about 50 per cent in day two. About same amount was collected last Friday in day three. After referees have been paid, the clubs and organizers are left to share some paltry amounts like 175,000 FCFA in day two.
While some officials blame the small gate-takings on poor control of gates, other thought the clash of matches with other public ceremonies were to be blamed. For instance, the installation of Adamawa governor, Acham Peter Cho on 1 November the day of day two action. While day three action happened on Saturday when local business magnate Alhadji Abbo was holding his cow feast in his MAISCAM ranch, some 30km out of Ngaoundere. The folks were all out of town for the feast. Meantime, on the field of play, results have confirmed bookmakers forecast as no team is having a clear domination of the group. Even Bamboutos Mbouda the group leaders with 7 points from three games found it hard to beat the inexperienced side of Stade Bertoua 2-0 on Saturday.
