Cameroon quiet over U-17 win
Cameroon´s triumph at the U-17 African championship in Swazliand has received little attention within the country.
They beat Sierra Leone 1-0 in Sunday´s final in Mbabane.
Lack of coverage from the local media contributed to the absence of debate that usually follows the form of national teams at continental competitions.
Very few fans were aware of the fact that the team had reached Sunday´s final against Sierra Leone.
On the day of the match, national attention was more focused on the departure of the senior team to France for the Confederations Cup.
Led by captain Rigobert Song, Cameroon´s players divided themselves into two teams that played a game that was watched by 60,000 fans at the Amadou Ahidjo stadium.
Cameroon´s sports minister, Bidoung Mpkatt, noted for his frequent trips abroad with the national team, only made a 48-hour visit to the team in Mbabane.
