Lions to play Colombia in friendly
The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have been invited to play the South American champions Colombia in New York on November 2, 2001 as part of their preparation for the African Nations Cup.
It would be the first match of the Lions under the new German coach Winfried Schafer, who last week met for the first time with Cameroonian players based in Europe and Asia.
The Indomitable Lions, who are the reigning African champions, have not played since their last World Cup qualifier against Zambia in July.
The game is scheduled to take place at New York`s Shea Stadium, the home of baseball`s New York Mets. It will be the first major soccer game in the American city since the attack on the World Trade Centre on September 11.
Meanwhile, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon might also take part in a four nation international tournament in Nigeria next month along sides Belgium and Norway in Lagos.
