Geremi backs Cameroon to survive shake-up
Cameroon defender Geremi is convinced his side will beat Germany to progress to the next round of the World Cup. "All those who have bet on us will not be disappointed," said the Real Madrid star.
Cameroon have been heavily criticised at home for failing to set the World Cup alight, yet they have four poiints to their name and lie in second place in Group E, behind Germany
"Even if we have not won the points with style, we still have them and they will enable us to move into the second round," said Geremi.
He also claimed the stuttering 1-0 win over supposed whipping-boys Saudi Arabia in their last outing was no guide to their overall chances.
"The problem we had against Saudi Arabia was that many people were expecting us to crush them, forgetting that they too were well prepared against us," explained Geremi.
"No two games are alike. The Saudis were not going to let us in like they did against the Germans," he added.
On a personal note, Geremi believes he is getting better with every game and in one final rallying cry before the clash with Germany on Tuesday, he told his country`s fans to get behind their national side.
"Let the fans have confidence in us. We`ll defend the country and Africa. We`ll satisfy their desires. We are very motivated and prepared to beat Germany on our way to the next round," he said.
In the other game in Group E, the Republic of Ireland must beat Saudi Arabia by two clear goals to qualify for the second round - at the expense of either Germany or Cameroon.
