Makoun looking to leave Lille
Lille`s Cameroon midfielder Jean Makoun, who has been linked with Arsenal and Manchester City, says he wants to leave the French club.Makoun is targeting a move to Lyon or a team outside Ligue 1 after expressing his desire to leave Lille this summer.
The Cameroon midfielder wants a fresh challenge after being at Les Dogues for six years.
The 24-year-old has been linked with English clubs Manchester City and Arsenal as well as Juventus over the past week, while French champions Lyon are also believed to be interested.
Wherever he ends up, Makoun knows his time at Lille has come to an end.
"I have seen everything with this club and I have had a great coach (Claude Puel)," he said.
"We have played in the Champions League twice but it is the time to leave.
"It is important for my progression. In my head, I am at the end. I want to give myself another challenge."
On his possible destination, Makoun added: "We have spoken a lot about Lyon and it`s a club I really like. Clearly every player would be happy to go there.
"But there is also abroad. The most important thing for me is to step up a level.
"I think Lille have to understand. It could be good for the club as well. I want to push myself as far as I can."
