Essien targeting Cameroon scalp
Ghana`s stand-in captain Michael Essien is confident that the host nation can beat Cameroon on Thursday to reach the final of the Africa Cup of Nations.
With John Mensah suspended, Essien will lead the Black Stars in the semi-final.
"Our plan is to go all the way to the final and win it and I don`t think Cameroon can stop us from reaching that goal," he told BBC Sport.
"With the way we have played in this tournament so far, victory will surely be ours."
The Black Stars are hoping to win their first title since 1982.
But the Chelsea midfielder admits that the Indomitable Lions are stiff opposition.
"We have watched the Cameroonians, and they a very strong side and they play with a lot of energy.
"We know it is not going to be easy against one of the best sides in Africa.
"It has been a long time since Ghana won the Africa Cup of Nations.
"This is a perfect time for us to do it for the country on home soil, and Cameroon won`t spoil that dream."
Ghana are through to the semi-final for the first time in 12 years while Cameroon last reached the final four in 2002.
Both countries have won four Nations Cup titles, one fewer than record-holders Egypt.
