Kameni Reveals CSKA Offer
Carlos Kameni has revealed that he turned down a lucrative offer to move to CSKA Moscow to stay at Espanyol during the winter transfer window.
The Cameroon international goalkeeper has been linked with a move away from the Barcelona-based outfit, but this is the first concrete offer he has received.
Manchester United are reported to be watching his progress, but CSKA attempted to capture the impressive custodian in January only to be rebuffed.
"Yes, it is true," Kameni said. "They offered me a lot of money, but I just want to enjoy the moment and am focussed on the league and on the current season.
"I want to end the season feeling good at Espanyol and see what happens. But, for the moment, I do not want to change clubs."
Having put all thoughts of leaving behind him, Kameni is now concentrating on helping Espanyol to bounce back from the four-goal hammering at Gimnàstic de Tarragona.
"We have had a week to work and to prepare for the game against Zaragoza," he continued. "The defeats can be used to improve aspects where we have had problems.
"We are doing well now and I have seent he rest of the squad looking in good shape ahead of the game this weekend.
Kameni believes that the defeat against Nàstic was a one-off and is confident that los Periquitos will use the defeat to impress this weekend.
"In Tarragona we had no confidence," he said. "In life you have days like this.
"When you go out, whether you win or not all depends on how you start. Now we know that we do not want that to happen again and we are stronger for it.
"We will go out feeling a lot stronger against Zaragoza.
"The team was very hurt after the losing like that against Nàstic and now we want to return to winning again."
