Records set to fall at final
Bamako`s March 26th Stadium will become a Den of Lions on Sunday.
The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will face the Lions of Dakar in the final of the African Cup of Nations, with kick off at 1600GMT.
The Cameroonians must be favourites to lift the cup.
Here in Mali they have won all five games they have played and in doing so have scored 9 goals and conceded none.
It has been ten years since a side lifted the cup without letting in a goal - on that occasion it was the Ivory Coast who achieved the feat.
Senegal `92 was also the last time these two sides faced each other in the finals of this competition.
It was in the quarter-finals and Cameroon won 1-0 late in the game, drastically reducing the local interest in the competition.
Four-times holders?
A lot has changed since then of course.
Both sides will be travelling to the Far East in a few months` time as two of the African representatives at the World Cup.
This might be the first time that Senegal have made it to the final of this competition, but the Lions of Dakar are delighted it has come now, as they believe it enhances their World Cup credentials.
But for Cameroon there are some important records awaiting them if they can achieve victory on Sunday.
They would become the first nation since Ghana in 1965 to retain their title.
They would also move along-side Ghana and Egypt as the only nation to lift the cup a record four times.
All previous times they have lifted it, they have beaten Nigeria in the final.Hits: 1 | Source:BBC
