Mboma should make final
Cameroon`s top goal scorer Patrick Mboma is confident he will be fit in time to face Senegal in Sunday`s African Nations Cup final.
The Parma striker missed Thursday`s 3-0 semi-final victory over Mali with a foot injury.
But the Cameroon frontman, who has scored three goals in four games at Mali 2002, says he believes he will be fully recovered in time for the final.
He attended Cameroon`s training session on Friday but did not take part in the light kick-about with his team-mates who hope to defend their title on Sunday against Senegal..
"I will be OK for the match, it`s just not a serious injury," Mboma said.
But coach Winfried Schafer said he was still not sure about Mboma`s fitness and would not make a decision on his inclusion in the team until Sunday.
Mboma was replaced in Thursday`s semifinal by Pius Ndiefi who had an outstanding game, setting up Salomon Olembe`s two first half goals.
"It`s a great situation to be in," said coach Schafer.
"I have three top strikers now to choose from and although it will be difficult to leave one of them out, it is a delight for me to be able to make that kind of choice."
