Song goes to Lens
Rigobert Song, captain of Cameroon`s Indomitable Lions, has signed for French club Lens. Song, who was at German club FC Cologne, on loan from West Ham last season, had been linked with a move to Bayern Munich.
Although West Ham are yet to receive the official paperwork from Lens, no problems are anticipated in effecting the transfer.
Song, who played at the World Cup, says he will miss playing in front of the West Ham supporters next season.
He told West Ham`s official club website that he will remember the fans with affection.
"It was fantastic when they sang my name and although I don`t feel the need to apologise for anything, I am sorry to say goodbye to them," Song said.
The Cameroonian had a spell in Italy`s Serie A with Salertnitana and played for English Premiership club Liverpool, where he was unable to command a regular first team place.
