Idrissou est de retour

Après une éclipse de deux ans, l’attaquant effectue un come-back remarquable.
En comparant de près les fiches des statistiques, Idrissou Mohamadou est de loin le deuxième attaquant camerounais présent en Angola, après Samuel Eto’o ayant eu un bon début de saison. Au moment où il quitte son club, SC Fribourg (D1 allemande) pour la CAN, il avait déjà disputé dix-sept matches et inscrit cinq buts. L’ancien attaquant de MSV Duisbourg (Allemagne) qui n’a principalement connu que le championnat allemand depuis qu’il est professionnel, est l’une des armes offensives de son équipe qui a dégringolé du classement de la Bundeslinga depuis début janvier, période qui coïncide avec le départ de l’un de ses buteurs attitrés à Lubango.
Après une éclipse de deux ans, l’attaquant longiligne, à la masse athlétique impressionnante, refait surface avec les Lions. Entré en cours de jeu lors du match Cameroun-Gabon (0-1), l’ancien joueur de Cotonsport et de Racing de Bafoussam, avait eu du mal à trouver ses repères et ses réflexes en attaque. Dimanche dernier, Paul Le Guen lui a donné un temps de jeu conséquent. En prenant la place de Mbia à la mi-temps, Idrissou a imposé son rythme aux véloces défenseurs zambiens, les empêchant d’aller faire du surnombre au milieu de terrain, secteur de jeu dans lequel les Lions ont été copieusement « mangés » par les Chipolopolo. Blagueur, Idrissou reste néanmoins discret. Comme la plupart de ses camarades, il n’aime pas parler à la presse.
Auteur du troisième but, celui de la victoire, Idrissou est une option de rechange pour Webo, « bousculé » par la concurrence. Logiquement, on devrait s’attendre à ce qu’il commence le match de jeudi face à la Tunisie. Son jeu de tête et en mouvement, sa baraka, et sa pointe de vitesse constituent des arguments de poids pour ce joueur qui était le « chouchou » de Winfried Schäfer, l’ancien sélectionneur des Lions de 2002 à 2004. La CAN 2010 sera peut-être celle l’enfant de Garoua qui n’a jamais gagné un titre avec les Lions.

How do you feel after being away from the national team for some time?
When you are a player of the national team, you have to work hard. It has been two years since I was lastly called up in the national team. I was very lucky to be called this time by coach Paul Le Guen at the eve of the African Nations cup. I am very happy for the confidence and determine to show what I am capable of doing. We have a good team but didn’t start well. During the second match which was not very easy, we had luck to grab the three points. Everyone knows that when any team is playing against Cameroon, they give their all and play one hundred per cent. We wanted to do it in a grand style, but you know the game of football is unpredictable. For now, we have a name to defend. You must merit a place to defend the name.
You turn out to be the decisive man of the match, how do you feel?
Well, there are days you do everything but nothing works. It happened that I had luck during the encounter. It could have been any other player. The essential thing is that we won no matter who scored. For now our objective is to move to the second round. We are preparing hard for the next match on Thursday. How do you size up your Thursday opponent-Tunisia? It will not be easy but we are determine to qualify for the second round. We have always won against Tunisia. This does not mean we are going to take them for granted. We defeated Gabon twice in the qualifiers, but Gabon beat us here in Angola. At the African Nations cup just like football in general, one has to make sure he is physically and mentally fit to play. Go in for nothing but victory. It is not going to be easy but we will continue working hard to win the trophy this year. Is there any player to watch?
I know one or two players especially their captain who plays with us in Germany. Globally the team is very good. We just need to be concentrated and careful. You know, the fact that they missed qualifying for the World cup at the last day of play motivates them to go out for nothing less than victory. But I am confident and hope that at the end of the game the Lions will be victorious.
